It should be possible with todays chip tech to create a single chip, low power version of AGA (I believe the original design was intended to function as if it were one chip, they just couldnt fit it all into one at the time). Pair that with a coldfire. Would make for not only an awesome PDA (are there any PDA's with any kind of graphics acceleration?) but a great little handheld game system. They could make a PDA with a fast coldfire and lots of ram, or a game system with a slower CPU and less ram, smaller res LCD, etc.
old Amiga games would go over great on a small device like this!
I wish I had the money and resources to make such a thing.
How slow would an AGA emulator work? Take UAE's chipset emulation, toss the 68k emu... how well would that run on a 200Mhz coldfire? Considering most old Amiga games wouldnt need but a fraction of the coldfire power, it should be doable. |
