German report about Mandrake on Pegasos : Comment 14 of 18 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 06-Jul-2003 20:28 GMT | In reply to Comment 13 (corpse): " IIRC solaris has been using the linux kernel recently in some forms ... If you got what RMS was saying you would understand how this would be Solaris/linux.
"
Nice try, byut hopelessly wrong.
Solaris doesn't include Linux code therein (although Linux contains code released by Sun which they developed for Solaris...)
What you are probably thinking of is Sun's range of x86-based computers, which run both Solaris x86 and also Linux.
None of the systems are "Solaris/Linux" though, or whatever convoluted term you want to use.
Linux can exist perfectly well without GNU tools.
RMS has no validation to his DEMAND that Linus rename "Linux" to "GNU/Linux", other than his normal overinflated ego trying to take control over everything as usual. |
