Amiga.org interviews Carl Sassenrath : Comment 18 of 28 | ANN.lu |
Posted by EyeAm on 08-Aug-2003 05:10 GMT | In reply to Comment 10 (Matt Parsons): "...we shall see darwin in action... remember Darwin's rules are about adaptability... which system can react quickest to changes in the "market"...?"
Amiga should have created a new 64-Bit OS, for the more ubiquitous (next to PPC) AMD64, and wrapped all relevant and useable system libs, etc., from the previous OSes in the new code so it would at once have full backward compatability and appear in the market (when finished) with the entire host of classic software titles ready to use. They could have had all of those running faster than they natively did, equal in speed to the new software which would arrive more slowly. They could have united the community by funneling the development paths of all previous Amiga platforms and OS versions into the one new OS, and had them all running 'natively', alongside the new software, DE, etc.
