According to Hans-Jörg Frieden, AmigaOS 4 SDK beta preview is to be released to Earlybird owners just before Christmas.
Reading some comments, it seems Amiga OS 4 beta is to be released, and it should include the final SDK.
Complete with autodocs, include files, compilers, binutils and some sample code, altough at the moment, without an IDE.

AmigaOS 4 SDK to be released to Earlybird owners : Comment 84 of 184 | ANN.lu |

I'd rather put my money on AROS. Nearly everybody of us has a fast x86 and now that AROS has a compiler, it suddendly looks very tempting as upgrade path. The investment necessary is much lower or zero, as there is no overpriced PPC hardware to buy. And the OS is not only free, you even get the source code and can toy with it! It just needs an m68k emulator, a bit of polishing (like powericons) and a handful of willing top Amiga developers to port their software. Pagestream and the likes. Generally speaking, the question is if the new new features in AOS4 are worth the enormous price tag of the A1. When I look at AOS4, I see many improvements but nothing that would blow me away, and most improvements are under the hood and out of sight. I could equally well live with OS3. In the end, there is nothing to run on it that wouldn't run on nearly every other Amiga, is there? |
