Today a so-called Amiga site which was supposed to allow freedom of speech has now become a exposed heavily censored website, webmasters acting like children insulting members of the site just because they stand up and say what they think.
I feel betrayed.

Freedom of speech is no more on a popular Amiga site. : Comment 202 of 238 | ANN.lu |

So, I don't actually have to wear a tie on a restaurant that requires it, I don't have to bother with non-smoking signs, I can pinch the waitresses in the butt as much as I like, or?
I'm sorry but the fact that we're talking about a public place doesn't change the fact that the owner of the place still has the right to apply certain restrictions to what you may or may not do. If someone behaves in a way that is not acceptable by the owner and/or manager of a certain facility, the owner/manager is in his/her full rights to bar the person as well as take precautions in order prevent the person from making use of the facilities again. A perfect example would be someone not beeing able to handle alcohol and repeatedly tries to pick fights with other guests in a pub, such guest would have to be a *really* good tipper in order to not be barred, wouldn't you say?
Furthermore, it's not like we're talking about paying customers here, we're talking about services provided to you completely on a voluntary basis. If you don't like something that is offered to you for free, simply decline the offer and walk away. Complaining about the quality of something that has been created on a voluntary basis and given to you for free would be like staying at a shelter for the homeless and then complain about the room service.
>Yes you can say that in a five-star restaurant only gentlepersons are >allowed...
Ah! Yo do have some insight here...
>But we are talking of Amiga related forums, the coffeshops of the net world.
But now you lost me again. I mean, you're basicly saying that since Amiga forums is not a five star restaurant, you can apply *higher* demands on it. Now that logic doesn't cope well with reality, does it? You get what you pay for, which is exactly nothing in this case.
>So only a little netiquette is necessary...
Well, that's all anyone ever asked for, you know.
>...But certainly I agree that "this little" MUST be respected)
Thank you. |
