Yes, but it takes more than a smiley to make an ironic statement. I
don't mean to sound picky, but for me irony requires that a statement
receives a new meaning, which is almost exactly the opposite of what is
said, through the use of irony. Your one line comment didn't hint much
at one motive or another, and the smiley really didn't clarify the
situation. Oh well... that's one of the reasons why I don't really enjoy
posting stuff on discussion boards like this. Brevity often trumps
clarity :( |
