Thendic-Amiga Court Case - Latest Motions : Comment 113 of 216 | ANN.lu |

Sure... Just like when bbrv said they didn't have any need or desire at all for AmigaOS4... Yea. Right... If that was true then why pay lawyers and court fees to do this ammendment, obviously Buck does want or need AmigaOS4 after promising us he didn't. While I don't quite see AmigaOS4 being an upgrade to DE (I've actually been wondering if anything is happening with DE at all or if it is now in limbo, hence Tao's parnership with MS to possibly leave out the "middleman" that was Amiga Inc.), you wouldn't think that Buck actually has a claim until there is an OS4.x with DE integrated, as such an integrated product does not currently exist it cannot be ported to Pegasos...
Plus, it's already been said that AmigaOS4 would be made for Pegasos if Genesi accepted the OS4 distribution rules, which he didn't. If he had, Pegasos would already have OS4 nearly available in it's non-DE-integrated form...
My biggest question is why doesn't Amiga just port DE to LinuxPPC? It already runs on Linux, Intent is supposed to have a PPC version, and LinuxPPC already runs on Pegasos. Amiga could suply a LinuxPPC package with DE, with Linux providing the basic OS stuff that seems to have not made it into intent/DE, and would satisfy the DE port to Pegasos requirements of the contract. AmigaOne users would thusly also have DE available while they wait for an AmigaOS port of it, if they have any interest in it... Then they can get their few bucks per Pegasos and maybe have enough cash for a lawyer to explain one or two things in court before being broke again.
Considernig Fleecy's email that was mentioned, Amiga will need a lawyer to explain to the judge their new content engine and why it's different enough from DE to not be included in the upgrades to DE clause of the contract, as we all know Buck will keep filing ammendments to have that included too, rather than to be limited to only the "legacy" DE stuff only available to Bplan's Pegasos and the WinCE gizmos... |
