I've been a registered AmigaDE developer for years, and now Amiga Inc drop this bomb on us? They've been _promising_ us that our developement efforts would be put forth in AmigaOS! they've been promising us this for years! There was 3000 of us at one point, and you've just alienated ALL of us! We've worked for NOTHING. LIARS! You've screwed us ALL over. Again!!

AmigaOS and DE integration CANCELLED? : Comment 87 of 93 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Bill Toner on 23-Mar-2004 21:01 GMT | In reply to Comment 63 (Tronman): > The contract very clearly stated a DE port was fair game for the current product

Actually, the contract talked about any future THENDIC product... Didn't Buck say that the Pegasos was developed by DCE? One of his recent morphzone posts talked about DCE developing the Zico spec and didnt' get credit or something to that effect, referring to the Pegasos. So Thendic isn't credited with Pegasos (version 1 at least) as it being their product. Pegasos II gets somewhat confusing as it's certainly developed after the DCE/Thendic/Genesi merger, I'm not sure if Pegasos 1 was before or after this, but I had the impression it was before since DCE at one point back in time was to be the second AmigaOne licensee but that deal fell apart for whatever reason.
While the "agreement" does seem to grant any successor to Thendic same rights to DE on Thendic's products that Thendic had, I wonder if that right truely is transferrable to products developed by DCE (ie, not developed by Thendic), and if "Future Genesi products" (ie. Pegasos II), qualify as "future Thendic products"...
Can anyone with more legalese knowledge comment on this? Im still trying to learn and understand the current situation rather than just blindly accept propaganda coming from either direction... |
