I am currently being threatened by my former employer (they are "compelled [to] take action against [me]") for the way I am running ANN, and how this allegedly violates my employment contract with them ("interfere _in any manner_ with any business relationship between the Company and any of its customers or business partners"). This might entail drastic changes to the relative freedom of speech ANN has always allowed its visitors, or ANN might close down altogether. Updated 10:00 CET.

Legal threats? : Comment 432 of 1057 | ANN.lu |

If the mysterious party (the identity of whom can't be confirmed but can only be rationally deduced by anyone with half a brain (or more) to be BBRV) does take legal action, I'll be contributing considerably more than $50 to ANN.

Personally, I think change might not be a bad thing. But to change due to what amounts to little more than blackmail should never be tolerated. There's only one way to handle a blackmailer and that's to confront them head on.
Stand up for the site. If it comes to it, you can count on yet another pledge of financial support to the cause.
Regardless of my personal feelings towards ANN, the reality is that without sites like it there is no community. If we let one drop, we not only lose one of the biggest and longest standing Amiga sites, we also set a precedent that discourages other sites from entering the Amiga scene for fear of legal action. Result: dead community!
End the fighting. This is a time at which all Amiga websites and the community need to unite for the sake of the community. |
