I am currently being threatened by my former employer (they are "compelled [to] take action against [me]") for the way I am running ANN, and how this allegedly violates my employment contract with them ("interfere _in any manner_ with any business relationship between the Company and any of its customers or business partners"). This might entail drastic changes to the relative freedom of speech ANN has always allowed its visitors, or ANN might close down altogether. Updated 10:00 CET.

Legal threats? : Comment 438 of 1057 | ANN.lu |
Posted by gary_c on 06-Apr-2004 23:50 GMT | In reply to Comment 302 (Darrin): I hate to wander off topic here (but since I’ve done it once in this thread, I figure what the hell), but whatever happened to the Phoenix Consortium that was helping Gensei coordinate the direction of the Pegasos/MOS development? Are they still in the picture or has “Greenboy” slipped quietly away?
Since about the end of last year, things have been pretty quiet within Phoenix. I imagine this has been partly related to the slower-than-expected rollout of Pegasos IIs, and partly to Genesi's reconsideration of its interaction with what remains of the Amiga community (i.e., reducing forum activity, etc.). And of course the fallout from Genesi's financial and staff problems has also had a chilling effect, no doubt.
We have been waiting along with others for the resolution of various issues. While the bandwagon is now enthusiastically playing fight songs against Genesi, I hope people realize the immense amount of energy and material resources the company has brought to this market. Of course there's also been a significant (some will say fatal) amount of friction and seemingly self-inflicted damage as well. It's always been the hope that policies and methods can be improved/replaced when found to be dysfunctional.
As for greenboy, he's been dealing with other parts of his life there in Montana, but should be back in action fairly soon. There is a lot to be talked about. We have close to 500 members now with people still applying; it's good to stay optimistic about what might still be accomplished in the future.
