I am currently being threatened by my former employer (they are "compelled [to] take action against [me]") for the way I am running ANN, and how this allegedly violates my employment contract with them ("interfere _in any manner_ with any business relationship between the Company and any of its customers or business partners"). This might entail drastic changes to the relative freedom of speech ANN has always allowed its visitors, or ANN might close down altogether. Updated 10:00 CET.

Legal threats? : Comment 798 of 1057 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Eric_S on 08-Apr-2004 18:30 GMT | In reply to Comment 784 (T_Bone): >I'm not talking about OS4 at all, I'm talking about the board, always have >been. I'm talking about the price of the already manufactured board, from the >factory Mai contracted for their boards.
...But not the cost of, end user dealer support and cost of OS4, now lets assume that the Boards that Eyetch buys cost 500$, we allso know that Forefront sells them for 800$.
There are three overhead parts involved, Eyetech, the dealers and OS4 Now the last figures that I heard where that the "margin" for each dealer was ~(150-200)$, not at all an unreasnable price to pay for good local end user support IMHO, and that's for a board that sells in low quanteties (ie the overhead for each board has to be large for each dealer to make a profit). The cost of OS4 should be around ~(50-100)$ wich leaves Eyetech with a profit margin of about 0-100$ for a board that's sold in numbers around 1000-3000(Extremly! opimistic) over a period of two(?) years, and that does not take in to account possible extra expenditures like Alans travels to China and such.
But if you think that Eyetch are such ogers then go on and licence a board yourselfe, get a licence to use OS4 on it and compete with Eyetch. I mean if Eyetchs profit margins are so fantastic as you seem to claim then shurely there's money to be made? |
