I am currently being threatened by my former employer (they are "compelled [to] take action against [me]") for the way I am running ANN, and how this allegedly violates my employment contract with them ("interfere _in any manner_ with any business relationship between the Company and any of its customers or business partners"). This might entail drastic changes to the relative freedom of speech ANN has always allowed its visitors, or ANN might close down altogether. Updated 10:00 CET.

Legal threats? : Comment 954 of 1057 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Don Cox on 09-Apr-2004 14:23 GMT | In reply to Comment 952 (Bill Hoggett): ""But it damages Genesi's image".
Tough! They should have thought of that before they started spending money that wasn't theirs. They should honour their contracts or stop trading. It's that simple, and the world SHOULD know when a company refuses to do so."
In the case of both Amiga Inc and Genesi, people have been willing to tolerate management problems for fear that open discussion would harm the product.
IMO it is best to be open, but not to exaggerate. Bad managers they may be, certainly people you would not sign a contract with, but none of them are the most evil criminals the world has ever known, as some posters suggest. It seems to be mostly just bungling, bodging and embarassed cover-ups.
They are all their own worst enemies, like the rest of us. |
