I am currently being threatened by my former employer (they are "compelled [to] take action against [me]") for the way I am running ANN, and how this allegedly violates my employment contract with them ("interfere _in any manner_ with any business relationship between the Company and any of its customers or business partners"). This might entail drastic changes to the relative freedom of speech ANN has always allowed its visitors, or ANN might close down altogether. Updated 10:00 CET.

Legal threats? : Comment 968 of 1057 | ANN.lu |

Yes and Apple have phased out the G3s and are probably gonna see the diminishing of the G4s by the end of the year. A G5 Powerbook is high on a lot of people's wishlist right now.
But nothing can be done about it until suitable bridge chips are available.
I always thought it was a northbridge problem. Maybe the Articia S isn't capable of handling the newer speeds of the newer Motorola G4s (1.2GHz-1.5GHz)?
Also, the industrial market doesn't need as much speed as the home or studio markets.
Very true. I have a digital decoder for the TV and it has a PowerPC chip in it. I was told it was running at 700MHz. And my old Airport WIFI router had a i486 processor in it.
BUT to catter to the PC user, they need speed. And most won't go back down to less than 1GHz. Going from 1.7GHz to 800MHz isn't that much appealing. |
