AmigaOS 4.0 Developer Pre-release goes gold : Comment 87 of 283 | ANN.lu |

Excuse me but I'm asking a simple question here: where is the source code? Simple questions have simple answers, such as "on the CD", "on our web site", "on request". It has a question mark, so I think it qualifies as question, thank you very much. I don't understand why some people get so worked up about that and turn it into a long thread about IP theft and a GPL lecture. You seem to attribute that turn of argument to me?!
> you accused anyone who is acting within the license quite properly of IP theft.
Yes. If somebody takes a GPL'ed program made by countless motivated unpaid developers and modifies that and sells that and does not release the source code back to those developers and the public, I won't mince words. It is IP theft to me. It is not IP theft in the strict, legalistic, hair-splitting sense. It is acting within the license, as you put it. But in a moral sense, it is nasty. And to make that perfectly clear for the reading-impaired: I'm not accusing anybody here, that is a what-if argument made in the context of this discussion. I'm still just asking, not accusing.
> you clearly had not read and comprehended the GPL
I'm releasing software under the GPL, if that amounts to a defense ;) |
