And strictly speaking, you need to make sure that they stay invalidated during the whole period of the transfer (which is where fine-grained MMU tables for non-cachable areas come in handy --- although they typically work on page-sized memory areas, which is *not* the granularity with which you want to disable caching in your data segment. "
