According to my experience, also latencies become increasingly important when high quality, realtime, interactive video and sound are transferred over packet switched connections. Even if in everyday computing things, like task switching times, are irrelevant, they suddenly become relevant ... otherwise the implementation will be difficult ... if not impossible.
