If computers were made by car manufacturers, who would be making the Amiga, Pegasos and PC respectfully? Is the PC a Lada or one of those Soviet cars? ;)

Amiga = Trabant. Old, buggy, overpriced for its market (many of those who would have liked one could simply not afford one), full of dead-end custom solutions that served their purpose once upon a time. Dead since a decade, but with some handfuls of loyal followers scattered around the world that worships this technology but every now and then portraits themselves as real nutcases to the outside world.

BoXeR = Tucker. A machine that is now old, but was packed with for that time interesting and creative solutions. Was killed because of real stupid reasons before it could really take off, but served as inspiration for others.

Pegasos = Saab. High priced, not the most powerful on the market when it comes to raw engine power, but quite unique of its kind, made largely of industry standard components but with the little details that makes it stand out. A strugling little piece of art with a lot of soul.

x86 PC = Most other brands who are available in all shapes and price levels, ranging from Hyundai Atos (VIA Epia Eden) that wins over the Pegasos in price and compactness but looses in performance, via Mercedes (Intel based machines, like motherboards bundled with the faster of the Pentium 4 Northwood processors and really fast memory) that wins over the Pegasos in performance but looses in price and compactness, to low volume, extreme performance monsters like Ferrari with fantasy price tags as well as fantasy performance.

Mac = Bentley. Really high priced, performance that compares well to most other cars ranging from general usage to performance applications. Like the Pegasos it has a lot of soul but of a more snobby kind; this is certainly not something you should mix with the common, general models. It has some status among certain people, while it leaves most others quite untouched.
