Amigaworld.net is currently down due to hard drive failure.
Everything possible is being done to return the site to normal, however we are unable to give an ETA at this time.
In the meantime, the Amigaworld IRC network continues to function via the remaining US and European Amigaworld Servers
They are:-
UK.Amigaworld.Net
US2.Amigaworld.Net
NO.Amigaworld.Net
Updates will continue to be posted here as and when we know.

Amigaworld.net down : Comment 110 of 281 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 03-Sep-2004 12:34 GMT | In reply to Comment 109 (XraalE): Twisting facts and taking things out of a context is a wonderfull method of argument.
All that was said, in that thread you seem to know so much about (seeing as you dislike amigaworld so much I'm fairly surprised you go there and read threads, I'm assuming it's something someone told you, that heard it from his friend who got the information passed on to him from his mothers friend that used to go to school with her in Switzerland) was this:
The 750FX and the 750GX can be, and often are, faster than G4's given the following factors:
1.) Altivec is not used, since it's not available on either the 750FX or 750GX
2.) The 750FX and 750GX are running at the same clockrate.
There are plenty of benchmarks that show this to be the case, then there are exceptions that show this not to be the case, and Altivec applications where the G4 excels over both models.
You can argue indefinately whether one CPU is better than another, your opinion, is your opinion. Stating that the 750FX and GX can be faster than a G4 at the same clockrate, exccluding Altivec, is not a lie, there are benchmarks that can back that up, you could consider it an opinon based on experience, or you can consider it to be propaganda, but lie, is a very strong word. |
