Amigaworld.net is currently down due to hard drive failure.
Everything possible is being done to return the site to normal, however we are unable to give an ETA at this time.
In the meantime, the Amigaworld IRC network continues to function via the remaining US and European Amigaworld Servers
They are:-
UK.Amigaworld.Net
US2.Amigaworld.Net
NO.Amigaworld.Net
Updates will continue to be posted here as and when we know.

Amigaworld.net down : Comment 177 of 281 | ANN.lu |
Posted by XraalE on 03-Sep-2004 14:32 GMT | In reply to Comment 152 (Kay): Kay, you're an intelligent guy, and stand exactly where I once stood, so I'm going to try to explain this to you in detail.
I was once in your position. I wanted AmigaONE and OS4, and it appeared to me that the constant criticism from blue trolls was very angering and very distracting. I spent long days attacking them and Bill Buck in particular. However, in about mid 2002, I really started to lose faith with Amiga Inc. No shirts, no hope, simply lies and deceit in return. When I tried to ask people about it, I got attacks and abuse from MY OWN SIDE. The A1 wasn't as unique or as cheap as promised, and OS4 was miles away. With money burning a hole in my pocket, I made a snap decision: I bought a Pegasos, in mid 2003. I though that I would be selling it quickly, because I'd hate MOS, right? Boy, was I wrong.
Using MorphOS and seeing that it wasn't the "crap, bad copy of AmigaOS" most people on my own side were saying, I started to question other things too. Suddenly the blue trolls weren't spreading lies any more - what they had been saying for years was right, if in a rather exaggerated and sometimes offensive way. I found out too about the dubious history of the main people now behind OS4, and why OS4 came into being. I did this on my own, while researching stuff to hit back at blue trolls with.
Now I can see things for what they are. A blue tinge is there, no doubt, but I have full archives of the lies and broken promises made by Amiga Inc, Eyetech, and Hyperion. I've tried to find background on all these constant references where BBRV made personal attacks to use against him, and came up with nothing. Instead I found long tracts of nonsensical FUD from Häuser and Hermans on USENET and ANN archives, even more nonsensical in hindsight. Both should be thoroughly ashamed of what they have said and done over the years to damage the Amiga. I know now who the bad guys here were all along, and why the blue trolls were so angry and so intent on general shitstirring in the community. They didn't start it, they didn't keep it going. Some things can really be so unfair that it takes a strong person not to troll against them.
What is AWN? AWN is a site where, instead of answering back the blue trolls, they've simply been excluded. This means that lies and exaggerations are never questioned any more, and users live in the false security of being able to repeat disinformation (although mostly innocently), because it gives them comfort and a sense of belonging. However, it's delusion, and serves only the people I've come to despise whom I once supported. And worst still, it serves as a point to suck money out of people using their faith to blind them. I won't ever rest with my 'vendetta' as long as it remains this way. My memories of how good the Amiga used to be are too sharp.
Now, I realise some lame fuckwit is going to copy and paste this whole post and reverse the names again, but it was worth it. Kay, start to think and make your own choices. Open your eyes to what happens on AmigaWorld.net. |
