James Rhodes of SeaScape Software, a North American software house that produced and sold commercial Amiga hard- and software as well as shareware and freeware titles until the early 90s and switched to the Mac platform when Commodore closed down, has announced to concentrate software development efforts on the Pegasos/MorphOS platform.
Below you will find the official information taken from their homepage which currently is being updated/reworked:
'As of today, SeaScape Software is going to be concentrating its development efforts on the new Pegasos computing platform running the MorphOS from Genesi. The MorphOS and Pegasos combination will allow us to develop quality software, and also help the MorphOS community grow larger with time.
"After doing a lot of research on this new platform, we decided that it would be in our best interest to develop software for this new computing platform that offers many advantages over other platforms. While the MorphOS is still relatively young, the software engineers at Genesi are making sure it is getting better with every release. On the hardware side, the Pegasos motherboard is improving in performance, thanks to the hard work of the hardware engineers. In the near future, Genesi will be releasing a motherboard with the PPC970 processor (G5), and we are looking forward to this very much. It is an exciting time indeed!" - James Rhodes
SeaScape Software sends Genesi our best wishes for the continued success of the exciting Pegasos platform and its beautiful MorphOS operating system. Get the alternative computer, the Pegasos platform!'

SeaScape Software to concentrate software development efforts on the Pegasos/MorphOS platform : Comment 41 of 45 | ANN.lu |
Posted by James Rhodes on 29-Sep-2004 07:49 GMT | In reply to Comment 40 (Anders Kjeldsen): With my "Ferrets Only" cartoon ferrets, I want to use this for an educational line of Mathematics (or more) software. Children need to learn better Math skills in my opinion, and I want to help out in this area. Wouldn't it be cool if schools all of a sudden started to look at the Pegasos computer and decide to switch over, instead of buying into the Wintel juggernaut every year? It is going to take some good software to make this happen.
As for other programs, I have a few things in mind but I have to concentrate on one project first. As I am learning the MorphOS/Pegasos system nuances, I will release small programs as Freeware. These won't be huge apps, but for things I need on a daily basis in my computing life. Since I plan on moving entirely over to the MorphOS in the future, there are going to be a quite a few small apps that I will want to make.
I am not going to be producing a huge masterpiece overnight. But in due time, I will make the kind of software I want to release to the MorphOS community. This is a new platform, lots to learn, and I can't wait to dive into it. :) So for a while, I will be releasing a lot of Freeware, then when I feel comfortable I will release Shareware software. To start a good Freeware library, programmers are going to have to release a lot of useful programs. Once MorphOS 1.5 is released it will make things much easier for programmers.
Hopefully, I have answered your question. :D My artistic skills are pretty good, but I have access to two artists who are going to make my life so much easier when I do start to program huge games or educational titles. Graphics are very important to me, as well as clean coding so nothing crashes. That is one thing I learned while at college - clean code that is checked and checked and checked... You get the idea. :) I really would love to make an adventure game, based around my two cartoon ferrets (Cubby and Pepper). It has to be cute and funny at the same time. The Pegasos platform needs a game that will define it, much like some defined the Amiga platform. Who knows what the future may hold... :) |
