So the World May Know: To all AmigaOne board owners : Comment 108 of 113 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 06-Oct-2004 08:10 GMT | In reply to Comment 104 (Anonymous): The point about a tower not being electronic in nature is that this excludes it from the electrical & radio interference Directives, and I can't think of any other directive which would apply to such an object. It's not a toy, not clothes, not electronic, not medical equipment, not part of heavy machinery -- it's just some metal & plastic.
Once the tower is assembled into a working computer it is covered by the Directive, and the finished product must be CE marked if it is to be sold in an EU country.
My point about Alan being a shopkeeper is that, despite his attempts to make it seem otherwise he's not very technically able. He isn't qualified to conduct the testing needed to make a declaration of conformity even if the Taiwanese board manufacturer had authorised him to do so (which they most likely haven't). So he's just an importer, and it's not legal for him to stick CE signs on stuff.
It's true that he is not longer in the retail A1 business, but that doesn't make things any better because he's now selling to retaillers in the EU, and the document you've just linked shows that it's not legal to sell them unmarked products except as scrap. Are GGS and other dealers scrap merchants?
Maybe in a sense they are. |
