John C. Dvorak on the New Amiga... : Comment 1 of 4 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Russell Yost on 01-Feb-2000 23:00 GMT | Dvorak, on pg 105 of PC Magazine "dated" 22 Feb included a section labeled "Whither Amiga? Dept". After a brief history, mentioning 47 patents and commenting the OS was the "diamond in the deal", "the best OS on the market for at least a decade", "It has potential as a controller for various NTSC video applications. The Video Toaster epitomized such use." If updated the Amiga could provide a "reasonable alternative" to the PC and Mac. It would need great advertising ala Steve Jobs. With multitasking and NTSC compatibility Dvorak's thinking "Web TV killer". |

He tells the story of how the Amiga has moved from company to company to
where it is now. He praises the OS, and how it could offer an alternative to the
PC and Mac, and he believes it could be a Web TV killer. He said we need someone |
