Mike Bouma informed me that there was a new Executive Update available on Amiga's website. Among other things, Bill McEwen says in the next two weeks [they] will make another strategic partnership announcement with regards to the new Amiga and the operating system. Apparently, they are also working on a new website.

I'm looking forward to see this new partner...

Interesting stuff. I must confess the thought of doing an introductory training seminar for the new OS sounds good. :-)
"...old faces joining the team..." says Bill. Hmmm... wonder what 'old faces' he's referring to?

Hmmm...Speculating starts again!
Partners: Metabox? Haage%Partner...etc.?
Old faces: Haynie, Olaf B, Carl, Havemose?
Well...Don't take these seriously! :)

Please leave that snake out of this because of him we are where we are today. The pure hatred of what he and his partner Gould did to the Amiga and Commodor just sends shivers down my back. On the bright side because of this pain he put the Amiga through it is about to emerge as a power house so the old saying "No pain No Gain" applys to the Amiga and we may have Ali to thank.

Darrack? I wish him well wherever he is, but I sincerly doubt he will even be considered for an Amiga position. He was screwed over pretty badly by Gateway, but I doubt that is going to be enough...

Hmmm...
...old faces joinig the team...
Have the others (Havemose,Rick,T Schmid) left Gateway to jump up
the team?
Or is that the return of a guy, who all we know as JC - The CEO with the Linux
flavour.
Or Dave Haynie left met@box to follow us..
I don't know...
Let's see what's happening next months. This time it's a little bit harder
than last year. We need soon a little bit more than Anouncements about
new Partners or Guys who are joining the crew or Executive updates.
We need up to date Products as fast as possible. We need something we can really
use and not something to read or maybe to listen.

I have to mention under the rule of Erving Gould and Mehdi Ali, well no so much under Mehdi Ali really - since they went through a lot of CEO's, and so far the scoreboard clearly states that Commodore held the Amiga ball for the longest amount of time (about 10 years...). And released 10 computers!
So far I haven't seen one company yet that has held the Amiga for more then 2 years... Not to mention all the computers released are all knockoffs of Commodore designs. Even the Amiga Tech A4000T my friend has packs an A4000T Commodore made motherboard/3.1 rom set (actually says copyright Commodore Business Machines in the lower left corner).

They say "We will begin official meetings in Germany, England and the
US for developers and dealers." - I wonder if they mean Britain or if
they are excluding Scotland, Wales & N. Ireland from the talks?

Where did this info come from? I didn't see it in the Executive Update.
About time, anyway - their design hasn't aged well at all.

Hey - perhaps you guys should go back further into time. Then you'll find names like
R.J. Mical, Carl Sassenrath, Dale Luck (the "Wizard Extraordinaire" :) and much others.
Though there is no sense in speculations like these but after all i have heard Rebol
could be a good successor to (A)Rexx. The Amiga is still known as a computer having
excellent scripting abilities (thanks to (A)Rexx).

I'm sure they are not excluding anyone and that it only means the talks will take place in England. Otherwise they'd be excluding also Sweden, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Norway and a whole lot of other countries with Amiga developers.

Of course :)
I'm just being picky and pointing out that 99.3% of the time, people mean the UK not England. Gotta stay on your toes with these people ;)

In reply to Comment 23 (fleecy moss):
Where does it say England? On the Exec update of 3 Feb, of course. But wait! Suddenly it
is an update dated 4 Feb, and now says UK. And it says some other things differently too.
Who said something about being tricky?
Is this going to be a feature of Amiga exec updates - a release, then a slightly different
one shortly afterward. Is Bill getting too much into computers, and is modelling his PR
approach on OS releases - the initial product, then a boing bag update?
I always liked reading Exec Updates (well, maybe not Schmidt's), and now they have
a new layer of intrigue - will they stay the same from one day to the next!
Regards
David
