Matthew G. Monsoor writes: Microsoft now has an application called Amigo 2000. The announcement page can be found here. Amigo 2000 is a full-featured charting program for PowerPoint and Excel that helps you create beautiful, publication quality charts with ease. Insert and edit fully-rendered 3D bar charts, pie charts, and many others directly in PowerPoint or Excel.

Yuck.. That's just grosses out man!
Just imagine how you would want to kill the first annoying PC-focused jerkass (excuse me and my language ;>) asking you if you REALLY have a copy of that fantastic plugin or whatever for powerpoint with DirectShit support and blah, blah BLAH! Gotta hate 'em.

Maybe Amiga Corp should consider sueing Microsoft as Amigo and Amiga are very next in terms of trademarks.
The American justice seems to be keen on condamning Bill Gates :)

Nah, don't be silly. Waste of time and money.
In any case I used to work for a company that had Amigo as a trademark back in the early 80's! Some kind of file aid for the database handler which was called 'Pedro'.

In reply to Comment 3 (Shaun Murray):
You know, for American people it's not "silly" to sue when there's big money in sight.
For example S3 revived thanks to a sueing strategy : copyrights or patent infrigments etc... They won millions of dollars like this and could make the Savage chipset.
Of course I'm not saying that Amiga Corp. must sue MS. But sometimes, with good attorneys...

In the world of multimedia, the Amiga is often praised for its
outstanding ability to deal with presentations (scala).
If you ask me, this is a cheap trick to sell more copies of powerpoint
and the likes.
People will be thinking 'hey, Amigo, now that must be a quality
product' coz they'll compare it with how they used to do presentations
in the 90's..

I beleive that Microsloth is doing this to confuse web search engines, here is why. Suppose you are idiot and want to search for the New Amiga computer that is going to come out and all you get is the Amigo stuff showing up!!!! This is a tactic to confuse and disrupt any and all web advertising related to the New Amiga. Think this is ridicoulous, think not!!! It is a common practice of Microsloth and many other techno companies.....

Amigo,eh?
Just start marketing an Amiga Exhale Spreadsheet and watch the suits.
At least the suits who work for microethicsoft. Thieves tend to not
enjoy the court system. Bobby Kennedy could make Joe Valachi sing,
but the microgateinc'ers, keep humming along, stealing intellectual
property like it grew on trees, despite all the "harassment" from the
Justice Dept. Sonny Corleone, take notes, this how you "go straight."

In that case, why not play them at their own game, so when people type "Amigo" in search engines, they get a load of stuff about Amiga :)

Keep in mind that you can TRY to sue for just about anything in any legal system, not just in America. It is up to the judge to determine if the suit has merit and should continue. As to Amiga suing MS - unlikely. What infringement is there?

Hehe... It shouldn't be too hard using this ploy to our own end.
Just insert the word Amigo in the content tags of your webpages...
This way people'll get Amiga pages when searching for the M$ stuff...

Yes I know, I'm a lawyer.
As for the reason to sue, well I have known unfair competition cases that were less important than this one.
But as someone said in here, is it all worth it ? It depends...

ROTFL, I didn't even need to look at who the post was from to know it was you Ben. Lawyers seem to think the same no matter what.
What's even funnier is that I know you posted this as a joke, I am 100% you were aslo damned serious about this too:)
Out of curiosity where do you practise and are you specialised in any particular aspect of law? I ask as I read law too, although I have never practised. Phoenix has had me dusting off my law books recently. I sometimes wonder what might have been if I had not decided to follow engineering instead of law upon graduation. (I spent a considerably longer than average time in college as a result).
