The hot rumour at the moment is that Phase5 may be having some troubles. Some sources indicate that their website was just down for a while, other people say they are relocating and doing their inventory, while this thread on Moo Bunny mentions an "Phase5 is no more" message and later mentions Mick Tinker as having posted something about this subject on the Team Amiga mailing list, citing sources close to Phase5. Does anybody have any facts?

Hey, people, just don't panic.
I was talking to the biggest czech Amiga distributor (for those who don't know: The Czech Rep. is located next to Germany, therefore next to Phase5) about the repair of my BVPPC.
They told me that Phase5 was having a vacation until an arrival of G4. So they repair my cards for more than 3 months. If you want something from them, you need to be very very patient, but they don't seem to be out of bussiness.

Well as long as they`re still live and kicking thats fine. If Phase5 stopped making Amiga gear then that would immediately half the amount of new hardware being released :/ sad but almost true.

I can debunk the "Mick Tinker with inside info"-bit. He simply heard
the same rumour everyone else had and commented that if true, it would
be sad. Nothing in his post suggested he has any real info.

I have always found them to be very responsive with emails.
However, recently my emails have been bouncing back with
'permanent fatal error' messages. This started happening
about 2-3 weeks ago.
It would be sad to see them close shop. Hopefully something
else is amiss and they continue developement for the Amiga.

Do you really think one of the few remaining developers will do something as irresponsible as shattering market confidence which will impact upon their own company on uncorroborated heresay? Mick Tinker doesn't strike me as ineffably stupid.
Phase 5 going out of business would leave one hell of a hole, one Amiga inc is NOT going to be able to fill for a long time. What little market remains is partly due to Phase 5.
Think about it...

Phase5 IS DEAD. They made an "Insolvenzantrag" (should be the same as declaring
bankruptcy). Local file (German) can be found at:
http://www.amiga-news.de/archiv/0037.shtml
That's it, folks. They've brought us through the dark ages, let's hope Amiga can
now rise again on its own... **Sigh** Hope DCE's licenses for producing the CSPPC
and other p5 products keep valid ...

Not at all Mario, but Mick himself called it a rumour in that post,
and this somehow seemed to have been lost. Anyway, this doesn't
matter anymore. :(

As I said, the fact that the comment came from Mick, the person with the most to lose from such an event ensures the statement would not be made without being pretty damn solid:(
And yes it does matter. Think of the burden on the market, dealers, consumers, Phoenix, Amiga inc... A major company like Phase 5's closure will always induce the snowball effect.
Mario.

Of course phase5:s bankruptcy matters!
What I meant was that it wasn't fair to retell something Mick Tinker
himself called a *rumour* without mentioning that he called it a
rumour. But since it was true, this doesn't matter anymore.

I don't follow the TAML, so I guess I was using the right words when I said
[the message on Moo Bunny] "mentions Mick Tinker as having posted something
about this subject". I don't think I could have said it more diplomatically
without knowing what exactly Mick wrote. Notice how I never said he gave a
positive or negative answer to the rumour, just that he did answer something.
:)

Yes Mick posted it as a rumour. He also said it came from sources close to
Phase5. I think we can all agree that his words carry some value around here.
The post in Moo Bunny is also identified as a rumour and that Mick had recieved this from reliable sources.
Had I known that this would cause problems for so many individuals
