Greenboy writes on Moo Bunny:
phase 5's insolvency should have very little impact on Phoenix or QNX plans. As it was, they were not able to proceed with their announced Amiga-oriented intentions. But Neutrino's hardware needs are in no way dependent on phase 5. So the only effect will be within a small portion of the public which still believes phase 5 is the keystone, when in fact it is not. The interviews I've done attempt to clarify those misperceptions and are reaching a large print and web readership. Whether phase 5 will be reborn under a different guise remains to be seen.

Posted by XDelusion on 08-Feb-2000 23:00 GMT | Well there dead now I take it? Hmm, they had some good ideas, but by the looks of it, the path I would personally choose is a new IBM/Transmeta computer, over the AmiRage, the AmiRage does sound very promising, and up to date, but that up to date thing is not going to last with Transmeta, and IBM on the sceen, I believe they are going to change the standard for hardware in some dramatic way... |

Posted by Michael Czajka on 10-Feb-2000 23:00 GMT | IBM haven't made any big hardware changes for years.
All their improvements have been incremental and backwardly compatible (mostly). Unless the Crusoe pushes them over the hill they show no sign of jumping voluntarily. People have been saying the IBM is going to change soon... every year since the Amiga was launched. Ignore it. It's hype.
I wish we learned to hype the Amiga half as well!
Amirage sounds like an OK machine. Any new hardware is better than none. We're long overdue for some kind of new machine. Even the Boxer continues to drag on and when's the G4 finally going to get here? Or even a CybervisionPPC card? Please!!!!
I've got the money. I've got the inclination. So who's got the hardware? |
