Good luck finding out. They are owned by the AOL triopoly. I think it's cool though looking at what he has done and what he intends to do... I wonder if he'll add support for AIM or some such later on...

Are the ICQ protocols patented? If not then it doesn't matter what they think
about it - Doug has written STRICQ from scratch, he owns all rights to the
code and he is free to do with it what he wants. If they are patented then
there may be some issues, but no more than were involved before he GPLed it.
