Warp 3D V3 is out thanks to Thomas Frieden and others from Hyperion Software.
The changes are mostly internal, new functions in the API, and support for
a new feature of the Permedia 2 (Chroma keying). For the user, the archive
offers the possibility to use MiniGL compiled programs, like the upcoming
GLQuake. There's also a small MiniGL-compiled demo in the archive, to give
you an idea of what's to come. This can be found on
ftp.haage-partner.com/3DWorld/Warp3D.

Posted by Michael Jantzen ^_^ on 19-Feb-2000 23:00 GMT | I am curious - how many amiga video adapters can use this in hardware to make it useful for something like GL-Quake? I've used GL-Quake on the PC ever since it came out and its not playable on anything less then a Voodoo 1 board - which is about 100 times faster then the S3 ViRGE based CV643D and faster then the Permedia chip the CVPPC boards at doing 3D gfx.

I cannot wait for the other games/programs that will support it. |

At least when running under (not ON) windows... I don't even have a comment on W2000... I've been using Amiga and PC, side by side, for 6 years now and now I've had it with the PC. I'm giving it to my mom so that she can shop around at Internet... It's good for nothing more... Unless you want to play games...but hey, if I want to play games I can do that pretty much better on my Playstation or N64 or soon Playstation2 (Which seems to make any g-force-equipped PC tremble of fear.) |

Permedia2 is way faster than Voodoo1 - about the same speed as
Voodoo2 (a bit lower fillrate, but a lot better in terms of OpenGL).
And GLQuake on a Permedia2 runs very smooth in 640x480 (or was it
800x600 - can't remember..) |

You have it all backwards. The Permedia 2 is NOT fully OpenGL compliant, the VoodoO 1 is.
And yes, the Voodoo 1 IS faster than the Permedia 2. |
