Philippe 'Elwood' Ferrucci has created a page with a survey on which AmiJoe card people are planning to buy. Two people submitted this site, but I was reluctant to mention it because to me it seems like it creates the impression that this is an official poll by Metabox. Any comments on this?

No it's not an official Met@box survey.
But my good friend Elwood said that he should send them the results or anyway they would be likely to see the page.

Maybe there should have been an option to choose the A3000/A4000 boards as well. It seems that anyone who responded wanted that anyway.

Yep, annoying just to have A1200 boards listed even though they'll be the first batch. From the comments, looks like lots of people have tried to cram in comments about the 'big box' boards :-)

The survey doesn't seem to be working anymore. Got a message: "Couldn't insert into database" when I tried it.
Author, are you reading this???

I got that message too. I was about to add to the "big box" list for my A3k.

Hi
I've tried to encourage the people of that survey site that I need
a big-box A4000T board too, but got a "refusal to add" error

I agree that this survey should have had the A3000/4000 and A2000 versions as well,
basically everything metabox has said they were going to make. I don't have an A1200,
but want very very much to have an Amijoe in my 4000T.
I also think it would have been nice to have something to say if we want an easy
upgrade to G4 processor when available/possible. Be it trading in for an entirely
new board, or having the same board reworked with the new CPU chip, or having a ZIF
socket like Phase 5 had mentioned, I'm not worried about the method involved, I just
want to be capable of quickly/conveniently updating my Amijoe G3 to G4 CPU (and hopefully
adding more L2/backside cache memory to G4's 2MByte limit up from G3's 1MByte limit).
I would be doing whatever necessary to go through the G4 update program for my Amijoe
as soon as such an upgrade was ready...

Hello guyes and gals,
An A2000 / A3000 / A4000 choice has been added. Metabox never talked about this anyway.
But if a lot of people request for those boards it could become a reality.
Please be aware that Metabox never replied to my 10 mails and 10 faxes but I still
hope they do when they see all Amigans that want those boards...
Sorry for the little bug, 127 "registrations" was the limit ! Now it is 2^24 !!!
Bye

I think it would be very disappointing for
them to ignore the high end machines. I have
an A1200 but my heavy duty work gets done on
my A3000. If there's a choice between a PPC/060
from DCE and a G3-1200 from MetaBox, I'm going
to buy the DCE board first. I don't want to wait
another year for a PPC board.
BTW, will the MetaBox board include WarpUp drivers
and how's the 68k emulation being handled? These
are other issues that would prevent me from
purchasing a MetaBox board in the near future.

I like the survey, but you are incorrect about the Joecards for big box Amigas. Take a look at:
http://www.joecard.com/en/press/990326.html
It clearly states that there will be cards for the 2000, 3000, and 4000.

I think by the time this unofficial survey is completed it will be clear that
lots of people want "big box" PPC accelerators. The big question is - is
Metabox listening? It would help if they would at least say SOMETHING to let
us know they are still working on the thing. Also would help if they had an
English version of their web page. I mean if I was running an Amiga company
I'd do right by the community and talk to them, find out what they want most,
and so on. Don't these guys browse the newsgroups or anything?

Mike is right. It lists the specs as follows:
PowerPC750 (Lonestar) G3 Processor
333 or 400 MHz
1.024Kbyte Backside Cache
66 MHz Local Bus Speed (A 1200)
100 MHz Local Bus Speed (A 2000/ A 3000/ A
4000)
UniversalSerial Bus (USB)
RealtimeClock (RTC) (A 1200 only)
PCI compatible Connector for future expansion
Socket for SDRAM Modules
FlashROM for easy Software upgrade
Note the line about A2/3/4000

There is the following option on the above mentioned page:
"-PCI compatible Connector for future expansion"
So, I strongly hope it means we could also use common and cheap PC GFX-cards (S3's, or even 3D cards) if ever somebody(*) write a driver for them!!! (A 'SUB-driver' for P96/CGFX.)
Although it's a little bit scripic formulation. If they do care about us (remember Michael J.?), they don't want us to wait a year for their 'custom' GFX-board... As better to sell (much) more PPC card NOW, than to sell a FEW GFX add-on board half-year or even a whole year later!
I think we need to stand up for it TOGETHER and NOW!!! Express our interest.
