Francois Prowse writes: A new opensource PowerMac emulation is available. Looks like they are aware of the Amiga's existance and have code that should be portable. The Mac-on-Linux page explains: Mac-On-Linux lets you run MacOS under PowerPC Linux (i.e.: Yellow Dog Linux, LinuxPPC, etc.) on PowerPC based machines. Since it runs natively on the processor, it is very fast. Unlike most Mac emulators, Mac-on-Linux runs MacOS 8.6 and later without a rom image.

This looks novel, but I'm at somewhat of a loss why an owner of a PowerMac would want to boot Linux to run the MacOS. OK, if a POP/PReP/CHRP machine actually makes it onto the market, and has Linux available but not immediately Apple support, perhaps that would be a nice thing. But how about _today_?
Please educate me with comments here.

In reply to Comment 2 (PaulT):
You might want to multitask, with some programs running in the host OS (Linux or--
with SheepShaver -- BeOS, or potentially Neutrino and Amiga/Elate), and programs
running in MacOS via the run-time environment. This way you can switch back and
forth between OSs/apps without rebooting. Also, when MacOS freezes/crashes, your
whole machine doesn't go down; you can just start the run-time app and MacOS
again. Processes in the host OS aren't affected. You can be doing things while
MacOS goes through its startup process. This capability is probably especially
appealing to Linux types, who seem to value continuous up time as the primary
