Hmm, `they' claim (at the bottom of main entry page) the site was built
on Amiga, yet in the source:
"meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 3.0""....
It also takes ages to load and plugs/links to AWD and Agnes Search - a
site that's been closed for 4 months. Why bother when there's already at
least three other sites that have been going for several months?

In reply to Comment 1 (Buffer):
Worse, Amiga.de is running Windows NT 4.0 with IIS/4.0...

In reply to Comment 2 (Mark Olsen):
some of the structuring on the mainpage was a frontpage project was started long ago, admittedly. But look at the rest of the site. Mostly used memacs if you must know.
Anyway, the gfx are all made on amiga!
you guys are hardcore....
Im not about amiga evangelism. I use many computers. Amiga is my favorite. The site needs to display decently on other browsers...

I personally have no problem with whatever server it runs on, you don't
always have the choice. What I don't like is that they claim the site
was authored on an Amiga, when going by the source code, it was done in
M$ Frontpage.
Not only that, there's quite a bit of out of date info on there -
whether the site's finished or not...

I think what these guys are saying is dont publish your site until its READY! I personally am grateful oof another soul wanting to publicise Amiga in any way possible, but to publish a web site it does need to have content and 'another view' on Amiga things rather than a 'mirror' with different design.
Fair play to doing the site Matt, best of luck..BUT! get some help and spend some time on it. If I had the time I'd help too! But i havent. But hopefully in a few weeks/months I hope it makes my bookmarks!
Nice domain name BTW do it justice!
Cheers
Suk.

Agreed. I can change the smallprint for y'all
When I wrote the smallprint, I know I was using either AmTelnet or memacs; I didn't notice the frontpage tag in the header (wrote the main design at work, using MS crap),
anyway, as for being so staunch about being _pure_ amiga, it's not possible for anyone to run a halfway decent site without turning to other platforms.
That's the truth. That's a reality. And if nothing else, new sites promote the amiga, increase its name recognition, and perhaps
give it a chance at one day being able to manage, author, and maintain a site entirely.
even in 1988 when I first became interested in the Amiga, I knew it had plenty of ground to cover
before it would be able to compete with the PC onslaught that would come in the following 11 years.
It still does. But that fact should not overshadow or obscure the overriding fact that I _prefer_ the amiga, whatever the economic case.

It's always nice to see a new Amiga website or group appear, we've had too many disappearances lately (CUCUG, Phase 5, Amiga Format). I wish gm.net all the best and thank them for setting up a new Amiga related site!

In reply to Comment 2 (Mark Olsen):
I mentioned that to someone a while back, but they didn't seem to care. My suspicion is that Amiga.de is hosted by a 3rd party company, not by Amiga - who knows though.
Yeah actually running a whois reveals some interesting facts :).
