I spent most of my evening working on this update to the scripts.
The most obvious change should be that the horitontal navigation
bar has turned into a gradient and lost its border. Some links
moved to a box on the right, the article range links should now
be clearer (real numbers instead of "show 10 previous/next"). I'm
not satisfied with the navigation box yet, so that one may still
change. At the bottom of the page, you will notice that the ten
older articles are now taking up less space. Comments are no
longer directly clickable, but still available after clicking on
the message link. A less obvious fix is that it will now be
possible to view previous news items of a specific category only.
This was broken ever since I implemented categories, but finally
turned useable now. I hope you like these recent changes. No
matter if you do or don't, please let me know of any ideas,
suggestions or criticisms you may have by adding a comment.

Posted by Adam Szymczak on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | I wonder if anyone uses the Display 10 News Files Websites Rants Motds options at the top of the page? I have never used them and I am just wondering if there is any point in keeping those options?
Also, I recall that the options used colors to represent the various items. What happened to that? |

Thank you for all your efforts and keep up the good work!

Posted by buzz on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | just a small problem. on ibrowse 1.2 or so
the comments tables look very wrong. the black border
is huge and other things overlapping. i guess its most
likely a layout problem in ibrowse, but im sure it
could be fixed to look right on all browsers |

ANN v2 pre-release 12 : Comment 6 of 13 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Graham on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | Looks fine in Netscape 6 as well, although I think the 1 pixel wide borders are a little too thin - I would prefer the chunkier 2 pixel border :-)
It can also look a little cluttered - the stuff in the second column fizzles out a long time before the stuff in the first column. Maybe the old news could be put here? |

Posted by Patrick White on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | That's funny ... I don't subscribe to AmigaZone, yet I can still get the transcript of
the Chat. Thanks Harv for posting the transcripts... (or whoever does that, thanks.)
It would be nice to subscribe to AmigaZone, considered it several times, but don't have the
extra $$ right now...
Harv and Fleecy made a deal on the LIVE portion. I have no problem with that. I am getting
tired of people who use computers and expect everything FREE... I blame Bill Gates for some of his tactics that started this
way of thinking. Could you imagine what kind of auto industry we would have here in the US if Japan
started giving away free autos, just to dry up the US auto industry?
I have always been leary (sp?) of FREE things. You get what you pay for...
Hope to see many of you all at the Gateway Show. I look for some POSITIVE things happening.

ANN v2 pre-release 12 : Comment 10 of 13 | ANN.lu |
Posted by the man in the shadows on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 5 (buzz): There is a known problem with IB1.2 handling vertical bars. I believe that it was corrected with the update to 2.0. I know that Voyager (pre 3) and AWeb (3.3 and 3.3SE) both display the pages just fine from here. Also some of the early versions of Netscape have the same problem just not as noticable. |

Posted by MashMan on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | In reply to Comment 3 (Adam Szymczak): Nope, I've never used those tickboxes either. One comment though, the second
grey bar down is wider than the others, making it look odd |

ANN v2 pre-release 12 : Comment 12 of 13 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Spudley on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | On V3 (ie the latest Voyager), the second line of the four grey-fade
lines at the top stretches further than the rest. The other three stop
some distance from the edge of the screen, while that one carries on
right up to the edge.
Just my observations. It all looks pretty good, though. :-) |

Posted by Trizt on 30-Mar-2000 22:00 GMT | It looks nice, liked the new look of the bar. The only thing I think don't
look so nice is the "suggest the page" form, it's big and uggly IMHO.
If I had made this great job, I had prolly choosen to have that on a seperated
page which can be accessed from the main page with a link. Or just had the
sender/reciver options. |
