In a posting on Moo Bunny, Len Carsner reports that the was at the UGN meeting in McEwens suite, where several rumours were verified or disproved. Among other things, Jim Collas has nothing to do with AI and doesn't have one dime invested in it, Anti-Gravity bought BoXer lock, stock and barrel...

The Boxer?
Oh, great, now we're moving ass backwards.
Isn't the Boxer an enhanced "old" Amiga board?
This better not be the future of Amiga because I'll buy an
x86 machine and run AmigaTao on it instead.
Why should we pay an arm and a leg for something left behind in the times?
Not to mention that the damn PPC accelerator cards are more than a grand apiece
(even though they are about half the cost for the MAC).
This is just so bullshit. The Boxer never existed and I'm not trusting THEM
with any of MY money. They take money and run every single time.
I think the Boxer is the biggest mistake to the company right now. Forget the backward boxes for classic Amigas- JUST GIVE US AN EMULATOR FOR THE NEW OS! How hard could that be???!!! They just want us to just give up all of our software or buy an old, overpriced machine. I'm sorry, but we've already had a Commodore season.

-1- Jim Collas has nothing to do with AI and doesn't have one dime invested in it. He
-has his own thing going on with Rick LeFever(?) among others. He had the chance and
-declined.
This rummor has been declined so many times why bring it up?
-2- Anti-Gravity bought BoXer lock, stock and barrel. AI wants this as a transitional
-machine and is willing to "help" if they can. Expect to see it released sooner rather
-than later.
Who cares? if the prices on anti-gravitys web site are true it won't sell
-3- Fleecy and Bill, while sometimes diametrically opposed on some topics, are great
-friends and are not constantly "butting heads", although they don't always agree on
-everything.
who cares they could hate each other for all I care.
Just produce a new amiga!
-4- While the banquet had a lot of "rah-rah" factor to it, the private meeting was quite
-the opposite. And while it was still very uplifting you left with the impression that
-Bill is very sincere and knows that he is under a lot of pressure and scrutiny by the
-Amiga faithful. And he knows there is a big uphill battle ahead.
This is welcome news. As for the show news being uplifting well lets say fool me once
shame on you fool me twice (or is it the 3rd,4th time) shame on me.
-I left with a lot better outlook than I thought I would. Yes I still have my doubts,
-but they have done some remarkable things in the last 90 days. Let's see what happens
-over the next 90 days, evaluate, and see where we are then and what we want over the
-next 90day period.
Same way I felt after AMIGA 99 last year,.and here it is again 1 year later and we are
still waiting.
If they would stop the name dropping down, it would help with the feeling of doom. I get
each time I check out the company they mention web page and do a search for any mention
of amiga and maybe finding one or two saying Gateway has just bought the rights to
Amiga.
This is not how a company builds trust. :(
So if BILL, fleecy, Gary read this, If you make a claim be sure you are able to back it
up.

In reply to Comment 2 (Mark Rippetoe):
you would appear to be confusing us with gateway....as in other posts, lets keep apples and oranges separate.... i dont recall having seen one deceptive bit of info disseminated to date...
i appreciate ones right to speak their mind, but this is getting a little old
lets look forward folks, the past is a bad memory.

In reply to Comment 3 (randy@amiga.com):
I was not quoting anything from gateway, BUT something from Len Carsner . nard@erinet.com.
I was at the UGN meeting in McEwens suite and some of the rumours you heard were verified
or disproved there."
What I said if the entire theard ( beganing with what came from len Carsner) was read has
AnythingG to do with gateway.
