Here's an interesting quote by "Rux" that I found in the German Amiga Club forum. It should be common knowledge by now that TurboCalc is not being developed anymore. What I didn't know is that the programmer is now working for SAP, in California. And apparently, "he's earning as much in two months now than he did in the five years he worked on TurboCalc". Here's the original quote, in German.

Wird NICHT weiterentwickelt! Die letzte Version ist 5.2 (update auf 5.0). Der Programmierer ging zu SAP und arbeitet jetzt in California (und verdient in 2 Monaten soviel, wie in 5 Jahren Arbeit an TurboCalc).

Then perhaps the time spent on Turbo calc gave some level of skills later required to be an SAP specialist.
The value of the work done maybe higher than first viewed.

Perhaps he should release the sourcecode of TurboCalc, so this programm can be improved and bug-fixed.
TurboCalc 5.2 is quite good, but a face lifting and some bug squashing would be great.

Do we have any commercially supported spreadsheet program for the Amiga?
Then, is there any good PD/SW/FW versions?

Yeah, SAP programmers in California start out around $100K/year... I know of one who works for SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) that is making that much and he is on contract, but they are planning on hiring them on full time wonder how much his pay will go down. How can I learn how to program in ABAB (I think that’s the programming language for SAP) when I don’t read or speak German (can’t speak English well either) and no where around here teaches SAP.

It makes sense.
The Amiga market just doesn't make enough money anymore.
Situation a)
Develop your Amiga product night and day. Hope you sell 1000 copies (unlikely) and then support it for the rest of your life with the little revenue you collect from it.
Situation b)
Use your programming skills for a larger company making a lot of money per year, working regular hours (usually), with benefits and a life.
Hmmm, tough choice.
