It looks great !
It makes me *proud* that such a "dead platform" (in PC owners` eyes) can still churn out games to match much newer hardware - it just proves how versatile the original hardware was :-)
All hail Amiga :-) (and Hyperion for doing it !)

I really hope that new PowerPC hardware is released soon...
And Hyperion deserves lots of sales of these games...
But we need new G3 or G4 PPC hardware ASAP...for playing these
games in joy...603 and Permedia2 is a bit limited for these kind
of games..although it is still playable thanks to Hyperion programmers...
I hope Hyperion licenses some car/rally driving games in near future..

I think that a new faster video card with plenty of fill rate( bandwith) with all the OpenGL functions available in hardware( so that they don't have to be emulated) will make the current PPC cards also run much better.
I have seen benchmarks from Quake 2 and Heretic 2 on the internet with a Permedia 2 graphic card and Pentium 2 300 and more processors and they get the same FPS as we do. The Permedia 2 is really the bottleneck here.
If the chip was really good then we would be getting the same frame rate in 800 x 600 as in 320 x 240. As is the case on my PC with VooDoo 2 card. We might even get more FPS because on the PC when using other chips like 3dfx VooDoo, Nvidia TNT, S3 savage the frame rate just jumps up.

Why aren't anybody taking on the task of converting Half-Life and Soldier of Fortune? SWAT 3 would also be neat. These games are brilliant, and the Amiga definitely deserves to have these games in it's software library.

In reply to Comment 3 (Remco Komduur):
Yes, you are absolutely right. The Permedia 2 is the bottleneck. If somebody would do a better card for the existing accelerators, framerates would go up by several factors.

In reply to Comment 5 (Ben Hermans/Hyperion):
If you look at the Boxer with its PCI slots, there really shouldn't be a problem with new cards anymore as it will be able to use industry standard PCI cards from the PC world. All you'd need would be drivers rewritten for AmigaDOS. nVidia TNT2 PCI cards are available today. And as for the lousy framerates achieved by the Permedia2 cards, it must be badly written drivers or lousy card design. The Permedia2 chip should yield a performance equal to the Voodoo2 chipset, which can easily achieve 25+ FPS in 800x600 resolution on a PC in more recent games (Unreal Tournament, Half-Life etc.) A GLQuake benchmark on a Pentium 233MMX (which roughly equals a 240 MHz 603e) returned around 62 frames in 640x480 resolution with an 8 Mb Voodoo2 PCI card. Under Quake II this dropped to 26-27 frames, which still is satifactory). With a G3/G4 card these numbers should improve.
