According to a poster in comp.sys.amiga.misc, the IWin website, and therefore the last evidence of this monster hoax/scam, has finally disappeared. I don't even remember their URL, but all the while I was kinda expecting that Iwin's end would be different than just a simple disappearance without further notice. Like a law suit against them, a message on their site stating they've moved to Sibiria to hibernate, a posting with explanations, anything.

I think their URL was www.iwin-corp.com. It might not have had the "-" in it.
however, www.iwin.com is still about, I think its a gambling site =)

Iwin ist just a real-time, real-life caricature of Amigas actions created by a crazy former Amiga-User...
Not very funny.

I can't believe they spent money doing it. I even called
them on their cell phone, and spoke with them on long
distance from USA to Germany. Then there was the website,
the Usenet postings, etc.
With their passing, our time can sure be spent better.

In reply to Comment 5 (Billy_Bob):
The latter numerical address _does_ work, and various things are still shown on their site. However, the gentleman at Merlancia, listed as an Iwin dealer, laughed and says he hasn't heard from them for more than 6 months. I figure the whole Iwin situation is an unfortunate occurrence of news briefs arriving here from a nearby parallel universe - one where Iwin actually accomplished something.
They talked a great line but even their final product listed, the "iAROS board" with PCI card and drive, wouldn't have really done anything that you couldn't accomplish with AmigaForever/UAE other than perhaps booting faster.

Their website worked up until last week at www.iwin-corp.de
they never paid the regg fees on the .com addresses. they had about 6 .de URLs.
I never said they weren't for real, as this is not wholly true.
But it is a relief t ome that theit .de domain has dies. Not because i have any distain to them, but rather because I knew the site would be like Softwood's softwood.com. It would never be updated again...
As far as Martin is concerned, I never could reach him on the phone. To the gent that has a cell line gor him I ask that he e-mail me with the Nr. I would like to speak to Martin on some things.
Oh, anbd yes, the IP address still connects to the server. This is not to last....
Cheers,
Ryan E. A. Czerwinski
