Klaus Burkert writes: Is there interest for a Gfx module for the Wildfire 68060 accelerator from DKB? Unfortunately the "Inferno" module didn't come into existence. Now there's a poll for interest and desired potential features. There's no guarantee that anything will be made and no affiliation with any company right now.

Oh, yeah, yet another poll to determine demand for, and features of a non-existant Amiga hardware product. I'll say this much, us Amigans are becoming polling experts ;)

Actually the Inferno module isn't vapourware. Dean brought the prototype
to St Louis 2 or 3 years ago and he virtually had it working from the
hardware point of view, and was getting drivers written for it. Dean is one
of the few guys who doesn't deal in vapour. It never came out because DKB
effectively closed down and he had to go get a job that paid.

That's true. Maybe I should have better phrased "not into marketplace availability" instead of "not into existence". However, from a potential buyer's point of view, the effect is the same.

Greetings.
I think that a card for the Inferno slot would be a good thing, esp.
if it had a card with, say, 3D acceleration and Hardware DVD decode
assist. That would effectively, with a 16bit soundcard, bring the
A2000 up to date, since even on a modern PC most of the 3d work is
done by the card, most of the time. Which is why a crap PII-166 can
manage a much faster frame rate on HereticII than the Amiga version
can, even though the architecture and CPU of the Cyberstorm are
faster. The PermediaII is just a slow chip. At any rate, a Voodoo II
chip on there would be pretty swanky! Just my two cents worth.

What's the point of having a plugin card for an accelerator that only one or two
hundred people have it and furthermore it is not developed anymore.
On the other hand , if i had a Wildfire I would have a totally different opinion
wouldn't I ? ;-)
Nevertheless DKB's Wildfire was the best accelerator for amiga created ever but it
was too late (by the time it came out 060 was not state of art anymore)
