In reply to Comment 10 (Jofre Furtado):
The MPEG 1, 2, 3, and 4 codecs (and the Level I, II, and III bitrate schemes) are owned by the Motion Picture Experts Group, yes. But they are open standards. That means anyone can write software to encode or decode MPEG files.

I just hope Amiga isn't bothered by too many more idiots like you, so they can get something done. Maybe I should buy a few thousand toaster ovens and ask Amiga if they want to slap their logo on those... I'm sure they love hearing these half-baked ideas.

In reply to Comment 12 (DanDude):
Well if your ovens are going to produce half-baked goods them I am glad that Amiga won't buy into it.
The product could have been good as a product placement. People see the biong ball, read the word amiga again. Then they see other amiga products, then a settop box and then a computer. THey are more likely to buy them then!

Ah, Amiga boxers... they're made not to protect you from cold winter, but just to attract girls.
I always wear them and (with nothing else) I go on the road, and all girls looks and love me.. :))))

Just include a small "smart-card" like device running the Amiga OS... Then you can get a licence for the Amiga name!

Don't give up on your idea, but bring it up when we actually have a product to run on... You see, the dev system (apparently) will allow you to program and compile once, so it'll be easy to program for... Here's the deal- why not give it a digital interactive disply so that Amiga will port the Ami/Tao OS onto it like a palmtop OS of sorts. I see their point- what makes it "Amiga" except a Boing! ball logo on the outside. Promote them a little- they'll come around. As for the MP3 funtion included- very novel idea, but don't forget that the various MPEG formats MPEG1, 2, 3, 4- are owned by someone- don't get sued...

I bought a pair of boxers, got them home, turned out to be clown size.
The Cola was 1 pound ie $1.65 at the time, so gave it a miss. Bad decision. Spudley's can has probably been rapidly increasing in value.

In reply to Comment 4 (Spudley):
well as you`ve asked and I get these in bulk.
Its a portable CD player, that also plays MP3. I have to buy in bulk - so if you want em I`ll do a small discount.
The player has 50 seconds buffer and its a very fine product, It can use rechargable batteries, and recharges these when plugged into the mains, in my humble opinion its superior to any MP3 portable you can buy. After all .. 10 or more albums on one CD is the ultimate portable music.
Its fully CE approved for the skeptics out there, but I am not getting involved in individual sales. Minimum is 10. sorry.
If you want 5000, I`ll badge and built to given spec =)
Hence the offer to Amiga. For once they could have had a viable product people would have bought in droves.
Anyway, enough waffffle

Oh boy.
Now I'm intrigued... what can this 'interesting' product be???
(yea, I know - you don't want to tell us; I understand)
Well, whatever it is, and whoever you finally do sell the idea to, may I be the first to wish you the best of luck with it. :-)
by the way - I've still got an unopened can of AmiCola in my fridge. Anyone wanna buy it?? ;-))

"You what?" Oh, "we will not license the name "Amiga" unless..." So no more Amiga Cola type products.

Really a pity.. I loved to wear Amiga socks, it's hard to wear an A1200 during winter :-D

- As it is, they are just slapping their logo on junk PC boxes
and calling it an Amiga..
Remember that this is only ONE excellent option that this new technology allows. New exciting products won`t be x86 based "junk" PC boxes though!

Many people need the reasurance of "this will definatly work on your amiga". Why should Amiga users miss out on mp3 players etc because it's a gamble buying, when by licensing a logo, uncertainty can be removed. By the way, I'm staring at an "amiga" monitor, made by, I believe, Phillips, and could have got lots more amiga/commodore accessories probably not made by Amiga.

"Idiots like you?" - What kind of commentary is that? First off, it's
-GOOD- for people to try and make innovative things; Second, Amiga
isn't going to get anything done, persuing things like they have
been.. As it is, they are just slapping their logo on junk PC boxes
and calling it an Amiga..

Actually I was more thinking of stuff like i.e. playing online multiplayer Quake on my mobile phone, PDA, etc. :)

I'm certainly not an expert, but your product sounds reasonable.
Could it be real small, like the Sony miniCD? or could it later
be converted to someting that will accomodate the newer CD'
which supposedly have more data than DVD...?
Anyway, go for it, and goood luck......

In reply to Comment 7 (AdmV0rl0n):
Just to add - the NDA was our own, not an Amiga INC variation.
And yes, its a fine product. As far as we are concerned its Amiga inc's loss, not ours.
The likelyhood of anyone having a CE approved product in numbers in this market is slim.
This will change over the next three months. But we're ready today.
This is the final comment from me on this, certainly on the public forums
