Equinox submitted this site, which seems to have much closer ties to the Atari ST than any other platform, but the subject is quite interesting anyway. Basically, these guys took old scene demos from the eighties and converted them over to Java. I watched many Amiga demos in the old days, and it would be interesting to see some of the more interesting effects converted over to Java.

Porting scene demos to Java... : Comment 4 of 6 | ANN.lu |
Posted by Anonymous on 28-May-2000 22:00 GMT | This is nothing is very, very sad indeed. Equinox would be better off
writing original demos and earning a name that way. If we really need to
view old demos we can use an emulator or heaven forbid dust off an actual
Amiga and use that.
In reply to comment 2: IMO, modern demos are far and away superior to old
demos. This talk of "old school" is nothing more than a yearning for the
times when Amiga users could point at something that impressed their PC
mates. |

Demos ought to fill the whole screen. Of course the PC has higher
resolution than the Atari, but it also has a much faster processor.
Why can't a demo fill the screen? |

Posted by XDelusion on 28-May-2000 22:00 GMT | And I remember the day when Demos actually ment something, when you could look at your old Atari XE, and say," They sure can't do that on a PeeSea"!!!
Well those days are pretty much over, but this page ain't bad!!! :O)
BTW ShockWave is really slow on Amiga :O/ For shame... |

all those processor cycles for... |
