Doh, just read the bit about Elbox providing tools and drivers -
obviosuly for their own stuff, but what about drivers for the standard
cards.

I see it says that Elbox will be "offering cost-effective PCI add-on
modules". I hope they'd just be selling standard PCI cards and not
making their own up which would cost too much. After all, whats the
point in the PCI board if we can't use standard/cheap/plentiful PCI
cards? And I hope they've got someone willing to write drivers.

Yeeah, but most, if not all, pci-modems sucks.
I want gfx/sound/ide or scsi/network in my four slots =)

I have a dream; My A1200 with a 4 slot PCI card running a standard PC PCI graphics card, PCI modem, PCI USB adapter board and using an AMIJOE PPC accelerator. Vapourware is a hell of a lot more exciting than reality :)

ok, what about the Zorro-slotted Amigas? Are they going to come out an
interface to plug between a cpu card and the cpu slot? I'm dying to know.

Ok , I`ve called elbox today (I live in Poland , and Elbox is a polish company - for those of you who didin`t know tkat ;)) . They sai , that info about the price will be given next week . The guy who I spoke to (from the sales department) said that they WON`T be producing their own PCI cards , only selling existing pc hardware WITH their drivers . But these drivers will be available for free . Currently there are cgx driver for S3 cards , and warp3d drivers for voodo3 and voodo5 are being developed . Elbox will release all materials needed for developing drivers for other cards , they will also be developing their own drivers (and selling the hardware) . They will initially develop drivers for some gfx cards , sound cards , modems , and LAN cards , and then sell this hardware with their drivers . But as I said before these drivers WILL be freely available , so that everyone could buy these cards by themselves (for example second-hand , for 1/3 price) . So Elbox Rulez !

I hope this latest news about the drivers is right. If this product reaches the light of day then it's an instant puchase for me along with a Power Tower to house the thing.

Did someone noticed that transfer between PCI cards will be a lot faster than between amiga/pci ? I wonder if there could be made a cpu card fitting into PCI slot and working from there, with amiga acting as a keyboard interface :)).
