Iomega have added the Amiga to their support options. Although we sometimes scorn Imomega for not having much (any?) Amiga support, if you go to http://www.iomega.com/support/nav_keyword.html you will see that the Amiga is now a supported OS.

Oh this if definatly Bill McEwen's fault, I have not heard so much about Amiga from so many non-Amiga sights for a long time!
THough I think there page ought to support HDInstaller as well, it is a much better program.

I have YET to hear from anyone at Iomega icw my zip 100 with the click of death
that I reported to them a few weeks ago... I have been apparently dusted off
their replacement program because my Amiga was to blame for its failure!
The Tech Support refused to even talk to mre after Amiga was mentioned!

This short instruction is on their website for serveral months, if not years now.
The only difference is, that it is now "official" while it was hidden before (i found
it because the exact URL was posted somewhere that time).
I also mailed the support mentioning e.g. the "diskchange" command but the only thing
i got was a rather senseless autoreply.
But in general it is fascinating to see a "big player" officially admitting that Amiga
is known as an existing OS. This could well be a little hint for the image-shift that
Bill McEwen has reached already in the (computer) public for "AMIGA" :-)

Not exactly "full" support and their instructions involve using HD Toolbox. Why don't they simply provide a mountfile or a dev driver. Still, it's a start.

Just phone them back and say you're using it on a PC. If they can lie to you and blame the Amiga then feel free to lie back. I wouldn't take it too personally against the Amiga. I've contacted many different technical support offives for a variety of programs and half the time the moron on the end of the phone hasn't got a clue about his own product. PC tech support normally follows this pattern:
1. Press CTRL, ALT, DEL - did that fix it? No?
2. Switch your machine off and back on - did that fix it? No?
3. Ok, get your Master Restore disk...

so true, it's the same in PC stores.
"I screwed up my windows install I guess"
"Ok, we'll fix that, no problem"
The day after it appears that they just did a full format and slammed windows back onto the HD, arg!

Here's a clip from their web site. This statement is from the support section but then it goes on to explain how to use their drives with the Amiga...
How do I set up my Jaz® drive on an Amiga® computer?
Iomega® does not provide support for the Amiga® Operating System or for the SCSI board and its associated software.
If problems are encountered that are outside the scope of this document, contact your SCSI board manufacturer.

That's not bad really if you think about it. They are just admitting the fact that their tech support people (pimple faced 16 year-old part time employees reading directly off a prompter) have never seen or touched an Amiga. The simple fact that they acknowlege the Amiga's existance and do provide some basic instructions on set up is nice to see. I'd have to guess the instructions provided were probably donated to them from an Amiga user years ago, doubtfull someone there has an Amiga:)
