OK, I still didn't get around to doing a regular update. What is worrying me right now is the disrespect of several rules by some people submitting news or adding comments. I do not like seeing people pretend to be somebody else, people insulting others, using vulgar language, or otherwise posting illegal or immoral statements. I think that before I implement anything else in ANN's scripts, that a rating system is needed. Until then, I am forced to remove any content that is in direct violation of applicable laws or good taste. Sadly some people don't seem to be able to moderate themselves, so I'll have to moderate them.

They may not be able to be anonymous, but surely there could be a checkbox so they can have some privacy to hide their mail address if needed. The moderator or CK would still know. IPs are logged somewhere too already I imagine.

What about a system of registration to ANN.
The user enter is name, password, email. You send an email confirmation, he confirm. Then he is registered and can post to ANN.
I don't know how difficult it would be to set up but I know I always register when I really have something to say in a forum.

Yes, I agree something needs to be done about the
idiotic posts in the unmoderated section
lately. It may be unmoderated but come on, the
content is not useful to anyone. This is meant as
a news source not a tasteless joke forum.
Well, anyway ANN is my favourite news site and
I think you are doing a great job.

You could still post anonymously easy enough. Just include a checkbox that allows you to post anonymously. ANN will know who you are, but readers won't.
