Remember InsideOut, the Amiga-on-a-PCI-card project which was developed by Index a few years ago? Mick Tinker has now posted an update on its status on his homepage here. Apparently the card got quite far in development, and Mick might consider finishing it after the BoXeR is out.

Boy does Mick have the Anti-Gravity 'Talk out of both sides of our mouth' syndrome or what? He also mentioned the Siamese guy cashed all the preorder checks? You have got to be kidding me! Talk about a criminal act! This has been dead for how long? Thank god for me not preording anything!!! I came close to on G4 cards, BoXeR, Inside-Out and many others... Luckily before I cut the check each time I had a moment of clarity.

He stopped development two years ago and blames Amiga for that? Give me a breal already. The Boxer is a joke and Mick Tinker should find a better way to hide his shame rather than accusing people.

I was a beta tester for Siamese in its many incarnations. This was written by Paul Nolan, and the hardware was worked on by Steve at siamesem, or subcontracted to others via steve.
During my time both steve and paul did indeed work very hard on the project and they did manage to clear many bugs and problems.
Sadly I have to say that the last version of siamese was still unstable, in particular in RTG.
Still a neat gadget, but unfinished.
However, I don't have all the details, but paul seemed to give up/stop working on it, and the reasons for this are unknown.
I think the project ran out of sales/money and as such people need to make money on such ventures. Thats the bottom line.
As for the Siamese card project, the true reason why steve and mike lay some blame is that this card was demo'd to jeff shindler and his merry men.
The basic fact was that they had a killer app (which was still really incomplete .. it needed more work ..)
and they had a killer bit of amiga hardware that would also allow mac 68k emulation and so on.
at this point amiga had nothing , it may have at least been a useful product.
However, without the funds/support and so forth I suspect that Siamese systems, Mike Tinkler, and Paul Nolan took it as far as they could on very limited resources, and got no help from amiga.
I don't know anything about the cheques, but I would add that before people jump to conclusions they may contact steve at siamese systems first.
there is enough rumour and spouting thats not based on fact that in this case before people get their knickers in a twist the facts should be brought to light.
Cheques can't be held for more than 6 months as far as I know so there may be a logical reason for the cashing of them.
As for Siamese 2.5, its too unstable on my system, but others may find it acceptable.
As for siamese -inside out, I judge this via the release of the boxer, which means that we might see it in 2010 :)
I hope this helps clear some of the background on this.

I don't need AGA+ !
If the system could be a bit more kompatible than
a Draco I would pay 800 $ for 32MB Ram with Grafik,
Sound and a 68060, 2GB IDE.
I would pay 100$ more for ZII !

Siamese 2.5 RTG runs solid on my system. It's kept me using Amiga software for the past few years.
I would have bought the Amiga on a PCI two years ago, but made a transition to a PC has relegated the Amiga to only about 10% of my computing time - as a window on my PC via Siamese.
You let us down Mick. It's too late now.

I agree with Maliban, A draco-like computer without AGA, just with a powerfull
3d-GFX card, and a compatible Amiga diskdrive would be very nice.
When I need AGA i'll buy a cheap Amiga 1200, not a BoXeR in 2003.
Even some Atari guys showed a motherboard with 060 and PCI on a show last month.
Why can't the Amiga developers do this ?

It's not AGA, in BoXeR, but a ship-set that can _emulate_ AGA (at much higher speeds!), while has (or will have, with SW download) other more modern modes.
