Tons of usefull listings, links, as well as Amihoo Magazine and Amiga Rediscovery.

Posted by The Great One on 31-Dec-1999 23:00 GMT | Very good, but why do not all the Amiga Search systems get together, like search.amiga.org and amigart.com and this Amihoo and make one unified search engine? |

Posted by Mikey C on 21-Jul-2000 22:00 GMT | First of all thanks to everyone who has sent me their feedback, so
far, the launch has exceeded my wildest expectation. :)
This is a good sign for the Amiga community, even if we have lost a
Big 'un today.
Tony, thank you for your comment about the site looking professional,
this is what I was aiming for.
As to the search engine and all sites uniting kinda thing,
well it's a good idea, but in the end is that really what you want?
- Look at it this way, competition is always a good idea because it
pushes the boundaries of new ideas and innovation (even if it is
friendly competition between the Amiga sites, at least that is how I
look at it anyhow) You only have to look at what Bill Gates has done
for all the other PC publishing companies, Corel is virtually bankrupt
thanks to the muscle of Microsoft.
Do you really want only one dominant player? What ever happens to free
choice then?
Besides if you put all of your eggs into one basket, what happens if
that egg disappears say to the PC? Look what has happened with Czech
Amiga News, if Czech had been the only player in town I wouldn't be
able to post this article right now would I?
OT, I can't help that the Czech decision was a bit foolish, what would
you rather be, a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a very
large ocean? Me? I would choose the former.
Finally, to the person who prefered the old AZ AYP stylee,(amike)
Sorry, but it was a real chore maintaining that site, I needed at
least 20 category pages for that (not including all the other ones
that went with it) And I was always faced with the dilemma as to where
I put someone's entry. This could sometime run into several pages
because some dealer would do multiple stuff. i.e sell software,
hardware, do repairs and probably the breakfasst too.
At least with Amihoo, it saves me a lot of hassle which means my
enthusiasm doesn't wane and I can devote more time into fine tuning
it.
Phew!
By the way, if anyone is reading this could you let me know what you
think of Amihoo Magazine? I have had many good comments on Amihoo
(thank you) but as of yet very little feedback on the Magazine.
Kind regards
Mikey C

I hope they are working on it. |
