That is great news to hear!! WOW!!! Bill and the team are on a tear. Would you have heard news like this from Escom, Viscorp or Gateway. In 6 months time these guys have managed to get some big hitters to look our way and the light at the end of the tunnel is getting a bit brighter. I hope Amiga works closely with Matrox to built a graphic card and drivers to astound the graphic world. Lets see if Amiga One will carry and fruits of this partnership.

Good grief, yet another awesome graphics company based out of Canada. ATI and Matrox, two of the biggest names in graphics are based out of the TRUE NORTH STRONG AND FREE! We're going to take over the world! Canadians are the master race.

Hmm, NVidia or 3Dfx would have sounded much better to me. But it's just my opinion.

In reply to Comment 1 (Pierre Narcisse):
Not to be an asshole, but I think this only means that they are supporting Amiga, not that they are going to build an "amiga-card".

Just want to remind this :
Matrox is about to release the G800 3D chipset wich compete with latest NVidia or 3DFX products.
As Matrox are clever people, all the documentation about this chipset will be free, open, public : so everything to write drivers will be available.
And finally, after Sun, Corel and Tao, having Matrox as partner will contribute one more time to give credibility to the return of the Amiga.
Just my two cents...

In reply to Comment 6 (Ben Yoris/Hyperion):
Well, they can use whatever 3D chip they want on an eventual new graphics card for the Amiga, as long as it doesn't come from 3D Labs or S3. :)

In reply to Comment 4 (Carl Mohlin):
Support from a "big player" for the Amiga is more than we had during the last years and personally i find it absolutely enough (for a start ;-)
Access (better: Non-Access!) to developer informations and software is one of the reasons why it sometimes is so hard (or even impossible) to support 3rd-party-hardware on the classic Amiga.

I hear you completly I dont expect them to make a graphic card for just the New Amiga but that the new cards that the bring out from now on will now have drivers and support for the New Amiga. I think that just having them supporting us lend credibilite to the whole Amiga comeback. It's like having Adobe saying " we will now add support and drivers to photoshop and premeier for the New Amiga" it adds a air of credibilitie to Amiga. Now can you Imagine support and drivers for Amiga to use the new 8003dx chip set from Matrox

I hate to write this, but the "partnership" with Matrox exactly like
the one win SUN and corel, is not even mentioned in the companies'
webpages: searching amiga on SUN.com gives references to a program
able to read IFF files, to PGP and to aminet mirrors running on SUN
hardware. Searching for tao group reveals a one liner regarding 1999
JavaOne. Searching both amiga and tao on matrox site leads to no
results at all. Searching for amiga on Corel's site reveals the
press release dated july 1999 regarding the fact that corel is pleased
to provide application running on LINUX, which is the platform chosen
by amiga inc (the press release, ofcurse dates to the Collas era...)
