Most of you may already be aware that I displayed AmigaOnline.net advertisements for some time, and that they never paid. As it turns out, neither personal emails nor open complaints here on ANN made them fulfill their part of our agreement, even though they finally (perhaps a month ago) promised to send me the cheque for all money owed. Now, as one of the last possibilities to get the 500$+ that they owe me, I'm asking all my visitors that are going to attend the AmiWest show to walk up to AmigaOnline's or AntiGravity's booth, for both companies share the same owner, and ask them when they intend to pay me. I feel a bit reluctant to ask this on here, and I'm sure that some people will criticize me for going public with such a request, but considering that ANN is a hobby project, 500$ are a lot of money, and I'd greatly appreciate being paid the money that AmigaOnline agreed to pay in the first place. Surely, for a company that intended to buy the Amiga for 5 million $, it shouldn't be that difficult to come up with about $500 for 40 days of extensive exposure on one of the largest Amiga sites... Don't you think? Update 28/Jul/2000: I received this message from them today: We have mailed the check for the advertising on Ann.lu. Check [..] in the amount of $508.89.

In case anybody's wondering where the 5 million dollar figure and the statement
about AntiGravity buying the Amiga are coming from, please refer to this URL:
http://antigravity.com/agdomain/amigapurchase.html
I'm not in a position to judge how accurate their side of the story is, but
past experience with them has taught me to be wary as far as their claims
are concerned.

Yep, that's only fair. Companies which intentionally doesn't pay their debts to developers, magazines, websites, etc are no better than software pirates. And with the current situation of the Amiga, just as harmful to the platform, if not more.

Damn. That's good that you made the connection of ownership. Did you happen to post that on Amiga WatchDog [http://web.ukonline.co.uk/d.hutchinson/awd/] ?

It doesn't surprise me that the stuck you with the bill, their history of paying is one of the worst.
AntiGravity seems to have little regard for its customers who ordered the Boxer, the money should have been returned in
a reasonable time when the machines weren't available.

Chris,
Do what you have to. If a public shaming is all that's left, do it.

Hmmmm... nothing new here, Christian. I have noted some scam people in the Amiga community... sorry to say. You were right to bring this problem to public attention. If they do it to you, then potentially they can do it to everyone... including the customers. These businesses should realize that they must behave ethically and honestly or pay the consequences. I won't name names but they did endup bankrupt.

To be honest, from the AG site:
"Preorder customers will receive the G3 Power PC upgrade for no extra charge."

Hey Christian,
You might find this one interesting. I found this directly on their web site (it's in the closing part of the 1990-1994):
"Anti Gravity's advertising budget blossomed to in excess of $20,000 per month."
Here's the link to where it's at: http://www.antigravity.com/agdomain/antigravityhistory.html
