This page links to a hack on UAE/linux that adds a JIT compiler. This was mentioned with more detail in this article in the Unmoderated section, where Harry Sintonen tested it and thought it still felt like a 040. Georg Steger reports in one of the comments that benchmarks indicate a much faster machine, and that DoomAttack is much faster on a P2/300 than on his 68030/50.

Does this mean UAE can now emulate way beyond 020?!
This would be interesting yes.

In reply to Comment 1 (XDelusion):
No, it still emulates 020, but a lot faster 020 ;)

Can someone try to run a Dnet client for Amiga 68k
(http://distributed.amiga.org/ for more about the Distributed.net client)
under JIT-UAE and report the performance ?
I run a dnetc -benchmark on WinUAE (P-III, 733Mhz): it reports barely
10 kkeys on RC5 test (not faster than on a "real" 68020).

In reply to Comment 3 (AmigaPhil):
First, 10kkeys/s is not 020, but rather closer to 030/40MHz. What's more, this JIT-ted uae achieved 347kkeys/s on my Mobile Celeron 500MHz, using version of the client that gets 110kkeys/s on 060/50MHz.

In reply to Comment 4 (Miloslaw Smyk):
Now I wonder how fast this client on a *PPC* ?

Well, now that we know it can be done, we can surely count on
it being implemented in the Classic Emulation Layer of the new OS...
any comments on this from somebody at Amiga?
