In a mail feedback for an order I made at Vesalia, I've been told that Mediator PCI will be available only in two or three weeks, although it should already be available since 16 august...

Gosh it _cannot_ be that hard... To all you Amigans out there
announcing your products: Simply DON'T if you cannot be sure
everything works out in time! What is so hard about this???
OT: AMIGA INC obviously did it once again, too. The AmigaOne was
supposed to be out by November/December (I think Bill said this). Now
Gary somewhere said "Q1 2001". I am not sure about this point
though (and I'd really like to be wrong).
Anyhow this makes me sick.

This is just another piece of vapor like the Boxer and Escena/Metabox products...

Elbox announce the board in JUNE at the NEUSS show, so 2-3 months time is not that much IMHO. Elbox always have delivered so far also. Any product they announced that didn't came through ? I spoke with MrBinek from Elbox and he doesn't seem the type of guy that announces stuff if it's in the pre-design , sketch on a paper stage. THe boards are probably ready but the drivers take some time perhaps? In the meanwhile, find yourself a Voodoo3 :)

2-3 week delay is not that long....consider about all the
other delays with other platforms/software, etc.....
Nevertheless, the wait for Amiga movement for last 6 years
has been disconcerting....
but then...how many "dead" platforms have Pagestream, ImageFX,
ProStation audio, a "toaster", PPC, Amiga Writer, Scala,
3 browsers, Heretic, Photogenics, Art Effect, Personal Paint,
FXpaint, YAM, AEMail, Lightwave, Imagine, Alladin, Wildfire,
etc....hang in there, we may be seeing the light at the end
of the tunnel,...and it is not an incoming train.

Ppl are always complaining about not enough applications/software, but they are always pointing at peecee programs which don't appear on the amiga.....
They have M$ Word, we have Amigawriter, finalwriter WW etc...
They have netscape/ M$ internet explorer. We have AWEB/IBrowse/Voyager
They have M$ outlook/ Pegase , We have YAM/ AEmail
They have Lightwave/3dStudio /Imagine etc. we have Lightwave/ Imagine/ Tornado3D /Monzoom /Alladin4D etc.
THey have Photoshop, we have (countless). And when this little PPC emu from microcode sollutions appear photoshop I explorer netscape SM Office too.....
We have equal programs....but not from the same compagny. Yeah maybe Word 2000 got some more option, but do you really neeed them? or is it just like : Word2000 got it so i need it too...... What??? Amiga DTP programs can't do this!? (useless option)....damn...amiga is dead...bla.bla.bla......
Since the announcement of the Mediator, i visited www.3dfx.com often.
Wanna know when the voodoo4 4500 and the voodoo5 5500/6000 were supposed to be available???
Some people can complain about not having AGP (yet). So you can use the GeForce 2 MX. and run Heretic2 in 1024x768 @ 100 fps. Can your Monitor handle this???
Is it more playable then running it @ 60 fps?? or 50 fps???
You play 10 games in a month?? acually 10 quake clones 10 c&c clones etc...
Or do you want to play 1 quality game in a month....like Sodiers of fortune...Or Sin...or....maybe Napalm2:euroburn....or Operation:Counterstrike or......
Most ppl complaining are users that didn't even feel the power of PowerPC or the first real 3D card the Permedia2...... Just upgrade to PowerPC and buy the Mediator. Buy a cheap voodoo3 (2000 or 3000 with TV out) and start buying games from Hyperion and other compagnies trying hard to get quality games to the amiga.
As long as there's support there will be new apps/games, and the "classic" amiga will be alive

Regarding useless options, I have to disagree. I'm a student in engineering and for me, proper documentation tools are vital.
It's therefore obvious I need more than just the ability to write a colorful letter to my aunt, and stick a cute drawing in the corner which most Amiga word processors seem to be best at right now.
Comparing Word 2000 to AmigaWriter is therefore also not fair, because Word 2000 is so much more capable of being a serious documentation tool than any other I've seen, even if I hate to say it.
AmigaWriter is growing, yes, but it has a long way to go before I could use it as a real TOOL, rather than just something fun to play with.
Word has many useless options and tonnes of bloat, bugs and flaws, but it also has many important ones, e.g. table handling, captions, sections, reviewing tools, indexing, an integrated equation editor and the ability to import just about anything into a document (ok, movie clips are useless, but...).
THOSE features I'd like to see in a serious Amiga word processor. It's those features that jump into mind when selecting a tool you have to spend several hours a day with. Currently it won't be an Amiga word processor.

Well I finished my entire Computer Science degree with Wordworth 7.
Wordworth was sufficient (although table handling needs a little
work. I just wish Digita hadn't given up on it and produced a PPC
version with lots of bug-fixes!
I found no need to use a PC during my degree. Other Amiga programs
used were GCC, Pagestream, Ghostscript, HSPascal and a few Lisp
programs from the Aminet.

T3D is the most unstable piece of sh!t I've ever seen, even on v3! Besides this,
how can you expect that a supposed "professional" 3D software has just one
level of UNDO in its modeler???? And for that price...

...and Imagine's rendered output is, at best, "semi-pro"...
About T3D 2 being stable, ok... but why do we have to pay for an "update" if it is inferior to its predecessor? Senseless...

What do you mean "can your monitor handle this"? Do you mean setting the monitor refresh rate to 100 Hz, so the game runs at 100 FPS? (with "lock to Vsync" option set). This isn't necessary, something like 70-75 Hz will do nicely and even 60 Hz isn't that hard on the eyes in 3D games. I doubt there is any possibility to get newer games (like SoF and Heretic II) to run at 60 FPS on a 603e CPU, but it certainly will run beyond that, when and IF the G3 cards are released.
