So, Hyperion guys, you actually have licenses for all these titles for the new OS?

In reply to Comment 1 (Teemu I. Yliselä):
Ofcourse we have.
We have two lawyers in Hyperion: Ben Hermans and Ben Yoris.
We did not tie our licenses to an actual hardware platform (to the extent that you could even get away with that) but to the OS marketed under the Amiga name "including BUT NOT LIMITED TO Amiga OS 3.5".
This is the reason why we can support the new OS (as long as it's marketed by Amiga) but not MorphOS, QNX/Neutrino etc.
This would require re-negotiation and amendment of all our contracts.

In reply to Comment 2 (Ben Hermans/Hyperion):
I don't know much about games, but I get the impression these are all
ports of existing games.
Are there also any completely new and innovative games under
development for the Amiga (any OS) ?

And what better way of trying out the new Open GL implementation! Games can make or break a format, and now that Hyperion will be bringing a nice catalogue to the new system, I'm very happy.

In reply to Comment 3 (Don Cox):
Development of new games (and I begin to know a lot about these matters) is very expensive and time consuming.
We can't afford to take that risk on a market such as the Amiga.
The strategy is simply :
- port some great games to re-offer the Amiga community and interest in the machine
- when the market's ready start to develop own projects and assure the transition to an Amiga only development (or at least an Amiga first development)
This is the only way to have games quickly and assure the future IMO.

Thanks Ben (and Ben), great news as usual :)
Any chance to have Worms: Armageddon in that list, too?

A sensible plan.
I hope you get more support and gratitude via AmigaNG because I am frankly disapointed and ashamed by the low sales from the Amiga PPC users.
People seem to like to nag and complain too much.
O, Mediator is vaporware(nag). Hee, I don't get 200 FPS in 1600 x 1200 with Heretic 2(complain). Come on people, give these guys some support for trying to bring live back in the Classis Amiga.
Signed,
Proud to have actually bought Heretic 2 and ashamed by those who have it illegal(and you know who you are).

In reply to Comment 5 (Ben Yoris/Hyperion):
Porting of good games from other platforms is a good thing. I wish
somebody would start a similar porting scheme for famous applications.
But I was also thinking, what will be the killer program that makes
people buy an Amiga computer (as opposed to a device that happens to
run the Amiga OS)? That has to be something that is only on Amiga.

In reply to Comment 8 (Don Cox):
IMO it should be a game, but these days development time is precious. I think the work Hyperion is doing is fantastic, as a mod developer myself I think the way forward is for a member of the community to take one of the engines the new amiga will have IE LithTech and develop a beta around that.
The next step would be to demonstrate it as a beta and see if anyone is interested in taking it further.
After all thats how Counter Strike started which is now a phonomenal success.
And yes I do have a plan ;)
