My first few days back at school have been okay, even if it is a big change from
the (limited) independence and routine of a regular job. I'm still not posting
much on ANN, but Teemu is thankfully keeping up with any current happenings.
As far as technical updates are concerned, I'm thinking about doing a "promote"
feature for worthy unmoderated articles, either just for moderators (Teemu and
me) or for the public (based on ratings, perhaps). This might be more flexible
than having to FTP in, the method I'm using right now. On a different subject,
the poll is getting old again, and I've run out of ideas a long time ago.
Any suggestions are gladly accepted.

Posted by Ben on 20-Sep-2000 22:00 GMT | Poll idea:
What sector needs to be most improved for the success of the new Ami platform:
(Which would benefit from a "killer game or killer app to make Ami a must have for that sector, as it was for video production many years ago, or the ST for music...)
e.g.
Games
Music
Art
Video
Office applications
Internet software
Server applications |

Games are what drive the market - you get a cool, *UNIQUE*, must-have game and you'll sell your ass off, especially when it will run on anything and everything. |

Posted by XDelusion on 21-Sep-2000 22:00 GMT | Or, how about little instruction bits, or reports of devices that have managed to run the new Ami when it comes out, like a how to on installing the AmiOS on a Sega Dreamcast, or Sony since they both have mice, keyboards, and I am hearing the DC even has Zip Drive support via a hack of some sort? People could begin coding for Amiga OS isntead of Sony OS, or Win CE, also it would make a simiple extra computer, heck there is even going to be an eth card for DC, what more could you want? Linux? Well that is in the works too!!!
Anyhow I have always felt that Amiga to me has been about what neat tricks you could make the OS, and hardware do, well today is the modern version of that only the OS and Hardware have changed, but everthing is still system specific, and not actually intended to do what it is actuall capable of doing!!
Enough said!??!
yea?
nea?

Posted by Rycochet on 21-Sep-2000 22:00 GMT | What type of shareware (or commercial) software have you spent the most money on? - Games, Music, Art, etc. (see comment 1)
Or maybe which type has been the single largest software expenditure?
Or even - How often do you email the authors of the software you use with bug reports/ideas/complements? - Regularly, Often, Occasionally, Rarely, Never. |

Posted by skal on 22-Sep-2000 22:00 GMT | Christian:
What about a poll regarding people's feelings about adding EXCEPTIONAL privacy-guarding features to AmiOE? Out there in WinDoze land, every day seems to bring another story about some functionality in M$ products that aids or abets the abrogation of user privacy on the internet. Why not take the temperature of the community regarding that issue with a poll, or a series of them?
Just a wild-hare idea... |
